I am one step closer to singing in tune and in the right octave for La Belle et Le Bête. I tried Garage Band a few times, but it was hard to play the little graphic keyboard with my mouse. I thought about it for a while and decided to see what I could do. Now, I know Stephanie might say I have too many toys, but I plan to do some voice lessons this summer to be in better shape for the musical season next year. I did some search on the web and found a reasonable keyboard to connect to the iMac and let me pound out my part. Yes, I could have saved money buying from Amazon, but I try to support brick and mortar when I can.
The show is going well (read: I have not had to be there too often yet). I played with Garage band and recorded my lines so I can practice with all the voices. Yes, it was fun recording all the voices in the scenes where I am. Yes, I did spend more time than it was worth to slice up the file and place all my lines in the right ear and everyone else in the left. My iPod lets me walk and practice at the same time.
Next week-end will be very busy. I have to skip French class to be at rehearsal for the Palm Sunday music our choir director wrote with a local librettist. Then I run down to Nacogdoches to hear Geoff in the opera orchestra pit. Since we have three services to sing on Sunday, I will not get to stay the night. Better to get home late than leave early in the morning.
This was not supposed to be this long. I should have just sent a letter.
