A Stent in Time saves ....

Back in 1980 when Stephanie was born, she was delivered by emergency C-section. She was unbearable. I remember being in the room and being totally focused in the moment.  When Chris was born two years later as a scheduled C-section, I was in the room as well. This time I almost passed out.  Looking back, I think the first time I was so focused on the emergency nature, that I did not think too much about what was happening on the other side of the curtain.  When Chris was born, I did not have the emergency focus. I was more focused on the operation than the delivery.  Big difference.

Almost two years ago, I was on my way to work and took a detour.  Dr. Ashford what is happening here?  You need to be in the ER ASAP! I cannot get into Suzanne’s mind. I can only speak for me.  By the time I got to the ER, I was totally focused. Now two years later, I have an appointment with Dr. Fazio this Thursday. He will do much the same procedure on a planned basis rather than on an emergency basis. Yes, I know I have had the procedure twice already.  I know Dr. Fazio is spoken of in high regard here in North Texas. I know that I drive many hundreds of miles a year and have a greater chance of an auto accident than a failed procedure. By the way, I still cannot get in to Suzanne’s mind.

Yes, I am thankful for the advances in science that make heart procedures into out-patient procedures instead of major surgery with extended hospital stays. I am just not looking forward to it the same way I am looking forward to going to dinner and movie tonight with Suzanne.
