Frank Gets a New Look

Nathans Scooter

Way back this winter, Nathan took a spill on his scooter. Within a day or two, I had to back running with a roll of duct tape. Later, I bought a new headlight so Nathan could see. Then he went off to DC for the rest of the Winter.

While he was gone, I rode it a time or two, just to keep all the juices in the right places. Scooters do not like to sit. As the Winter turned into Spring, the warm weather caused Frank's (the scooter, as in Frankenstein) face to sag even more. At one point, I torn off all the faring and left only the headlight. Frank was now a Cyclops(1). The day my headlights went out on the way home, Frank even lost his eye. Sorry, I forgot to take a picture.

After a Winter in DC, Nathan will be home for about six weeks before he goes back to DC for another eight weeks at NPR. With a long week-end without much to do other than chores, I decided to attempt to put the faring back together and remount it on the frame. Sure enough after a few tubes of epoxy and the new head lamps, I was able to get it back in riding condition: lights, faring, action!

(1) Now I know that a Cyclops has only one eye, and Frank always has the same number of eyes, but with the faring missing, the one headlight with two lamps looked so much more stark than it does when the faring is in place.
