Happy Birthday, Jim

This is an odd birthday for me. For the first time, I cannot call Jim and wish him "Happy Birthday." Since I firmly believe that he has joined that great cloud of witnesses, I know that he can share in all our lives and loves as we pursue the race of faith.

I am not sure if I remember all that well or just remember the stories Jim told. Apparently, back when we were much, much younger, people used to wonder if we were twins. I, according to the family myth, would ask which one they thought was older. I often mythologically won. Jim reminded me of this myth when my hair turned gray first after creeping back sooner. The last time I saw Jim with a beard, his was evenly not gray. I shaved off mine due to its overall whiteness. I guess you need to be careful what you ask for. Happy Birthday, Jim, and enjoy the square dance with Mom tonight.

So much joy to remember - and so much pain. Last night on TV HOUSE showed a homeless man dying of lung cancer. It was almost to much for this old Father. (On a comment to Annie I see that my picture is back.)

Happy Birthday, David. I am so sorry that Jimmy isn't here to share it with you. I know Mom and him are up in heaven having a glorious time.
