Week 1 Has Passed

A week ago at this time, I was in surgery with Dr. Catino and team.  I have been home now since Thursday afternoon.  Pain levels are within easily managed scope.  If anything, there is some ache like you would feel from overworked muscles.  Acetaminophen a couple times a day as a precaution.  For that matter, I have been taking it for a while to deal with the back condition, so not really a change.

1) I forget my back brace sometimes.  I might "walk down the hall" and forget to put it back on. Suzanne was not pleased.

2) Sitting with the bandage covering the surgery site can be a mixed bag.  Shift a little that way or that and bingo, stay put.

3) I only took one short nap yesterday.  Down from three or four.

4) Yesterday as a total of 1500 steps.  When I wanted to walk to the sidewalk and back for a little more than just in the house, I slipped out the back door and then to the front sidewalk.  If I walked out the front door and did not take #sirRobertRocket, he would have had a fit.  I am strictly advised not to walk Rocket for now in case he were to bolt and tug on my newly updated back.

5) The medical group for the hospital and the doctor use the MyChart app for details we never knew in near real time.  All those blood draws while in the hospital now have actual results tied to them.  Along with the Tests tab, I found the Implants tab! I know the model and lot numbers for all the bits and pieces they used to rebuild the sections needing new parts. I can see which screws were used for the spinal fusion.

6) Embracing the current opportunity for grace and courage is much easier than worrying about it. Although, identifying the source of the worry takes away much of its power.

Glad to hear of your continuing progress. I use MYChart too. Am able to see the results of the labs and even was able to request a copy of my mammogram. Keep up the good work.
